About us

Welcome

WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to the website of The British School, Rio de Janeiro (TBSRJ), a vibrant internationally-minded and forward-looking learning community with more than 100 years of history located in one of the world's truly great cities.

As you will see from the content here, The British School is passionately committed to its 3 core values of Integrity, Compassion and Determination. Our goal is to nurture our young people to develop into the very best versions of themselves with these core values as their foundation.

At The British School, we begin from a point of recognising and celebrating the uniqueness of every individual in our care. Our rich curriculum provides every child with the opportunity to flourish and succeed. Of course, some of our students achieve outstanding scores in the IB Diploma, the acknowledged gold standard in international education, and continue their studies at some of the most prestigious universities around the world, but the range and quality of opportunities on offer mean that every child finds an area of passion and success and all the while developing the personal qualities, skills and values that we know are essential to them leading happy lives that will enrich the communities they live and work in.

For parents considering entrusting their children into our care it should be a comfort that The British School is subject to regular and rigorous external quality assurance by some of the leading accreditation institutions in international education such as the Council of International Schools (CIS), The Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and the International Baccalaureate (IB), amongst others.  However, much as I recommend the remainder of this website to you, more telling is to schedule a visit with us, in person,  and experience for yourselves the joy and pride we take in our learning, in each other and in our wonderful learning community.
