Frank Okata and his sister Maritza Okata studied at TBS from August 1987 to July 1989. In August 2011, Frank came back to visit the school in Botafogo and some of his former teachers at Urca. Below, it’s his testimonial about the school. It was great to have you back, Frank!
“After leaving The British School, I finished High School in Washington DC in 1991. I attended the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD from 1992-1996. I was commissioned in the US Navy as an Ensign in 1996. I am a Surface Warfare Officer (ship driver). I presently serve on the Navy Staff in the Pentagon in Washington DC. I live in Arlington, VA.
I am glad to see how the school has developed and grown beyond my wildest expectations. My teachers were Mrs Martins (Maths), Mrs Betty (Biology), Mr Pollard (Physics), Mr Wiseman (Geography at the time), Mr Arno Fonseca (PE), D. Junia (French – I hated French class but it has paid professional dividends and I have her to thank)
