Barry Stephen Follett (TBS 1960s)

Barry Stephen Follett (TBS 1960s) I was born 25th February 1961 in Botafogo at the Strangers Hospital to my mother Evelyn Follett. My father John Follett was working for The Western Telegraph Company in Rio. I have two sisters Hilary and Christine who also both attended The British School, Rio de Janeiro. I was aged 9 when my father was posted back to London. We ended up living in Woking, Surrey. I went to school in Woking and then College at Brooklands College in Weybridge. After attaining an ‘A’ Level in Economics and OND in Business Studies, I joined Hambros Bank Limited (British Merchant Bank) in the City of London in September 1980. I have since become one of the longest serving employees of the bank (27 years) which in 1998 was bought by Societe Generale (French Bank). In 2001 I passed the AAT Accounting Exams. I am now the Treasurer and Tax Manager for SG Equipment Finance Limited in the UK Branch of the Leasing Division of Societe Generale based in Richmond, Surrey. I still live in Woking with my partner Helen and my two children Richard (20), Alexandra (15) and Helen’s son Joshua (9). I revisited The British School, Rio de Janeiro with my partner in October 2005 and was kindly shown around the school I was amazed at how the school had progressed and grown in size since I attended it in the 60’s.
